Cookie policy

What a cookie policy usually lists, and what is here

Most cookie policies sort cookies into four buckets. Here is that list, honestly filled in for this site.

• Strictly necessary cookies: none. Nothing here needs a login or a shopping basket, so there is nothing to keep track of between pages.
• Functional cookies: none. See the next section for the one preference that is remembered, which is not a cookie.
• Analytics cookies: none. There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no Plausible, no Fathom, no Matomo, no Clarity and no session recording on this site.
• Advertising and marketing cookies: none. No Meta pixel, no Google Ads remarketing tag, no retargeting of any kind. Nothing here follows you to another website.

Because no cookies are set and no third party is tracking you, there is nothing to consent to, which is why there is no consent banner interrupting the page.

What is stored on your device

Three things, none of them a cookie, and none of them ever sent to a server. I cannot see any of them and neither can anybody else.

• Your high contrast choice. An entry called sw-high-contrast in local storage, holding 1 or 0. It is written when you use the floating contrast control, so the site does not revert on the next page.
• Whether you dismissed the install offer. An entry called spw-pwa-dismissed in local storage. If the browser offers to install this site as an app and you say no thanks, this records that so you are not asked again. It is only ever set by pressing that button.
• Copies of pages you have opened. The site registers a service worker, which keeps a cache called spw-v1-2026-09-01 holding pages and files you have already loaded. It exists so the site still works when your connection drops. It is a copy of things this site sent you, not a record of what you did.

How long: all three persist until you clear this site's data. There is no expiry date because there is no server involved to set one.

How to remove them: clear site data for this domain in your browser settings. That clears all three at once. Turning high contrast back off removes the first on its own, and uninstalling the app removes the cache.

Third parties

No third-party script runs on this site today. The only files the pages load are five of my own, for navigation, the quote form, the accessibility controls, a small machine-readable helper for AI assistants, and the one that installs the offline support described above.

Two things are worth naming anyway, because they are the ones that would change this page.

• Online booking. The availability page is built to hold a Calendly scheduler, and it is not switched on yet. When it is, Calendly will load its own script and set its own cookies inside that widget, and this page will be updated to say so before it goes live rather than after.
• The web host. The site is hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs to serve the pages and block abuse. Those are logs, not cookies, and they are covered in the privacy policy.

The quote form is handled by the host's own form service. Submitting it sends me what you typed. It does not set a cookie on your browser.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Do Not Track header or a Global Privacy Control signal, this site honours it by default, which is easy to promise here because there is no tracking to switch off in the first place. There is nothing being collected that a GPC signal would need to stop, and nothing is ever sold or shared for advertising.

If online booking is switched on later, the embedded scheduler is a third party with its own behaviour, and this page will say what it does at that point.

Managing this yourself

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and clear site data, usually under privacy or site settings. Doing that here costs you nothing except the high contrast preference above, because there is nothing else stored.
