Who you are actually hiring

Spottedwood Property Co. is one person. When you book, I am the one who shows up, and I am the one who comes back next time.

Shaun Spottedwood

Shaun Spottedwood, owner of Spottedwood Property Co.
Shaun Spottedwood, owner and operator.

I have been doing some version of this work since I was nine years old and pushed a mower around my own neighborhood in Yankton, South Dakota. I spent years in office jobs at large companies and kept finding my way back to work I could see the result of at the end of the day.

How I got here

I grew up in Yankton, South Dakota. I got my first lawnmower when I was nine and mowed lawns around the neighborhood until I graduated high school in 2001. At home I was the one helping with the cleaning for about as long as I can remember. None of that felt like a career at the time. It turned out to be the part I kept coming back to.

I studied psychology at the University of South Dakota from 2001 to 2006, then business administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha from 2009 to 2012. After that I spent years in office roles at large companies. The work was fine and I was good at it, but I kept noticing that I liked the days where I made something or fixed something better than the days where I moved information around.

I moved to Denver in 2019. I studied massage therapy, and I worked for a nonprofit here called Extreme Community Makeover doing yard care. That was the job that made the pattern obvious to me. When the contract ended I went back to office work for a while and it still was not the right fit.

In 2023 I started working in live entertainment, running audio, video, lighting, and carpentry for touring shows. That is where the AV side of this business comes from. It is not a hobby I picked up from videos. It is work I did on a schedule, on the road, where a mistake shows up in front of an audience. In 2026 I moved from live entertainment over to corporate entertainment.

Why three trades

Three trades looks unusual on paper. For me it is just the three things I have actually spent my life doing. The lawn work goes back to that first mower. The cleaning goes back to the house I grew up in. The AV work comes from touring.

It also happens to match how a property really works. A property is one thing, not three, and the person who cleans your house is already looking at the yard on the way in. Splitting that across three companies means three schedules, three invoices, and three people who each only see a third of the picture.

The honest tradeoff is that a specialist with a crew can take on bigger work than I can. If you need a full landscape redesign or an AV project across a whole building, I will tell you that and point you somewhere better rather than taking it and struggling.

Outside of work

I like being outdoors, which is most of why the yard work suits me. I watch a lot of live sports. Broncos, Nuggets, and Avalanche, in roughly that order.

The business

  • Legal name. Blue Sky Service Group LLC, a Colorado limited liability company.
  • Trading as. Spottedwood Property Co..
  • Registered. Colorado Secretary of State, formed 2026-04-17, in Good Standing.
  • Service area business. I come to you. There is no shop to visit.

Insurance

I carry a professional liability policy through Hiscox Insurance Company Inc, at $1,000,000 per claim and $1,000,000 aggregate, in force into May 2027. If you are a commercial client and your process needs the certificate on file before you can raise a purchase order, ask and I will send it.

Being precise about what that is, because the word insurance gets used loosely. Professional liability covers a claim that the work itself was done negligently. It is not general liability, and I am not going to tell you I carry general liability when the certificate does not say so. If your building, your HOA or your management company requires a general liability certificate naming them as additional insured, tell me before you book and I will give you a straight answer about whether I can meet it.

Licensing

Being straight rather than vague

I do not publish a licence claim, because Colorado licensing depends on exactly what the work is and I would rather say nothing than say something loose. Two places it genuinely matters. Low voltage AV work and electrical work are not the same thing, and I do not do electrical work. Applying a herbicide or pesticide for hire is licensed in Colorado, and I do not offer chemical treatments at all. If your job needs either of those, it needs somebody who holds the right ticket, and I will tell you that rather than take the work.

What you can expect

  • The same person every visit. Not a rotating crew, and not a subcontractor you have never met.
  • A straight answer about fit. If the job is too big for one person, or too far out for me to be reliable, I will say so.
  • A reply within four business hours. Every request, including the ones I have to turn down.
  • No surprises on the invoice. You get the number before the work, not after.
